OSOGBO—No fewer than seven princes from three ruling houses in Iwo, Osun State, have signified their intention to occupy the stool of Oluwo of Iwo which became vacant after the demise of Oba Ashiru Olatunboswun Tadese, two weeks ago.

According to Vanguard investigations, the Princes are from Gbase, Ogunmakinde-Ande and Adagunodo ruling houses of the ancient town.

It was gathered that those who have signified their intention through written documents to the head of their ruling houses from the Gbase ruling house includes Princes Adio Adedapo, a retired teacher and Adegbite Ayoade, a former Chairman of Iwo Local Government Area of the state.

The contestants for the stool of Oluwo from the Adagunodo ruling house include Princes Adio Azees Moranroola, an industrialist based in Lagos and Isiaka Azees, an Account Officer with the Local Government Service Commission.

From the Ogunmakinde ruling house are Princes Lekan Lamuye, a retired secondary School teacher, jabar Kola, former Bursar of the state Polytechnic, Iree and Gbolagade Alagbe, the Provost College of Science and Engineering of the state University, Osogbo.

However, one of the ruling houses in the town, the Alausa ruling house, has not presented any contestant for the vacant stool and it was not certain whether the family would still present any candidate or not.

Findings however revealed that Prince Gbolagade Alagbe, who is a Professor of Mathematics at UNIOSUN, is the favourite of all the elites in the town considering his status as a university professor and a community leader who has contributed significantly to the development of the town.
