The Eastern Regional Secretariat of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has also threatened a strike if its leaders do not come out with a progress report on their market premium.
A statement issued in the regional capital, Koforidua on Thursday March 28, 2013 and signed by Regional Secretary Felicia Okai said: “The Regional Secretariat wishes to express concern on the apparent in-action on premium for members of CLOGSAG in the area”.
The branch said it has not heard anything positive from the Chairman of the Civil Service Council and the Chief of Staff of the Office of the President, upon whose intervention their earlier national strike was called off.
The statement said: “We can no longer keep the rank and file calm with promises that the discussions are going on”.
It said the tension in the district was a matter of great concern to the secretariat and demanded that the national headquarters come out with something positive without delay.
The strike threat by the Eastern regional branch of CLOGSAG follows a streak of similar threats from the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) and the Ghana Medical Association (GMA).
Their warning follows a recent suspension of strikes by the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and the Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU).
