A Deputy Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party, John Boadu, says the President’s assertion that Ghana’s economy is down to the bare bone is right because of the mismanagement of the Ghanaian economy, particularly in 2012, and under the watch of John Mahama.
According to John Boadu, the mismanagement of the economy, over the last 4 years, has led to the “dumsor dumsor” phenomenon, “no gas everywhere” syndrome, water shortages, amongst others that Ghanaians are experiencing in 2013.
He made this known at a Let My Vote Count Alliance rally held at the Dansoman Control Market.
The one-time NPP National Youth Organiser explained that Ghana’s total debt stock at the end of 2008 stood at GHc9.6 billion, but had risen to GHc33.5 billion at the end of 2012 and still rising.
He also made mention of the GHc8.7 billion deficit which arose as a result of over spending by President Mahama in 2012 and the GHc5.6 billion which government is to pay as evidence of the mismanagement of the economy.
John Boadu also pointed out the GHc600 million in excess expenditure undertaken by the Office of John Mahama, the GHc300 million NADMO spent and also the GHc300 million spent by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as evidence of the use of state funds to buy votes.
He therefore asked Ghanaians to blame John Mahama for the hardship they are currently facing and support the case of the petitioners namely, Nana Akufo-Addo, Dr Bawumia, and Jake Obetsebi Lamptey in the ongoing Supreme Court case.
John Boadu maintained that there were specific regions in the country where voters did not go through the process of biometric verification, and debunked the assertion made by the electoral commission that every voter in Ghana underwent biometric verification.
“No irregularity will be added to the total vote that declares the winner of an election, and the Supreme Court will ensure that the rightful President is declared at the end of the case,” John Boadu added.
