UEFA : Lazio fined whiles Drogba get Euro clearance

On Wednesday Schalke had an objection about Didier Drogba the Ivorian and Galatasaray’s eligibility which led to a scrutiny.

Former Chelsea striker Drogba was believed to have been transferred from Shanghai Shenhua to the Turkish side after registration deadline but Didier Drogba has been allowed to play in Galatasaray’s Champions League clash against Schalke by UEFA.

UEFA had confirmed that the deal was completed according to the rules.

‘Having examined all the documents of the case, the Control and Disciplinary Body decided to reject the protest lodged by Schalke,’ said a UEFA statement.

On 21 st February, Lazio were accused of throwing fireworks and displaying racist behavior in their Europa League against Borussia Moenchengladbach and have been fined 40, 000 euros and ordered to play their next two home games in Europe behind closed by the European governing body (UEFA).

In January Lazio were fined 140, 000 euros after their Europa League group clashes against Tottenham and Maribor were marred by tracist chanting. Lazio has faced several sanctions in the past.
