Communal conflicts have been recorded in various parts of the country. Often, when a truce is called and a semblance of peace is restored the authorities do little to bring about lasting peace.

This is the story playing out in Hohoe in the Volta Region. At least three persons were killed in clashes between indigens and the Zongo community there last year.

Property worth millions of cedis belonging to the locals were destroyed but there has not been any compensation for the affected people.

This has generated a lot of animosity in the town and as the chiefs put it “we’re sitting on a time bomb”. Beatrice Adu returned from the town with more.
