Okorocha sacks 2 commissioners

BY CHIDI NKWOPARA

OWERRI—Imo State governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, has terminated the appointment of two commissioners in the state’s Civil Service Commission, CSC.

The governor had earlier suspended the Permanent Secretary of the Civil Service Commission, Mr. Austin Otuokere, for allegedly being the author of an official memo, which advised government on what to do with the 10,000-job beneficiaries in the state.

The two commissioners affected by government’s shake-up are the Chairman, Mr. C. C. Nwaka and the Commissioner 1, Chief Analyn Nwaneri.

Although Okorocha’s administration did not give reasons the two commissioners were dropped, Vanguard investigations revealed that it was connected with the raging legal fireworks instituted by beneficiaries of Chief Ikedi Ohakim’s 10,000 jobs.

Vanguard recalls that the aggrieved job beneficiaries had since dragged the state government to the Industrial Court, Enugu, urging the court, among other things, to order that they be reinstated and paid their accruing salaries and allowances.

Meanwhile, two retired permanent secretaries, Chief Chidi Oguoma and Mr. Fan Osuala, have been appointed to replace the sacked commissioners.
