DURBAN, South Africa (AFP) – Mali beat South Africa 3-1 on penalties Saturday after an Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final finished 1-1 following extra time.

Tokelo Rantie put the host country ahead on 31 minutes with a tap-in and veteran Mali captain Seydou Keita equalised after 58 minutes via a close-range header.
