The organisers of the Ghana DJ Awards have announced that the much awaited event will take place on Friday February 15, at the National Theatre in Accra.
The event which comes off at the National Theatre a day after Valentine’s Day at 7:00pm, has been repackaged with more exciting features under the theme ‘Rhythm Nation’ and promises to become one of the biggest awards event in Ghana.
It is being organised to reward hardworking radio and mobile DJs, who have contributed immensely to the growth of the entertainment industry in Ghana.
Unlike many award winners who receive nothing for their honour, the Ghana DJ Awards will give to its winners GH ¢ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C2%A2 500 for every award, coming along with some special goodies from the sponsors including computer software training programmes from Bensung Computer Institute.
According to Merqury Quaye, who is also the chief executive officer of Merqury Republic Events, the Ghana DJ Awards will witness performances from some selected music stars like VIP, Kaakie, Stay J, Yaw Siki, Okyeame Kwame RNM, Diamond among others.
He stressed that the event was expected to attract Ghana’s top musicians, stakeholders in the music and copyright sectors, a cross-section of music lovers and the general public.
The CEO noted that the showbiz industry in Ghana was a multi-million dollar worldwide business as well as a tool for immense tourism attraction.
He reiterated his outfit’s commitment to promote the showbiz industry as a whole for economic development, adding that it would ensure that the industry got the necessary attention it deserved.
