Daniel Opare is set to return to action for Standard Liege since October on Sunday evening when they play guest to Anderlecht in the Belgian Pro League

Black Stars full-back Daniel Opare is set to play his first league game for Standard Liege since last October after being handed a starting spot against Anderlecht on Sunday.

The 22-year-old damaged a fifth metatarsal in his right foot during training in October but returned to training three weeks ago and played in an international friendly defeat to German side VfL Wolfsburg.

After watching last weekend’s smooth 2-0 win over Kortrijk, Liege boss Mircea Rednic is likely to hand him a place in his starting line-up as they face Anderlecht at the Stade Constant Vanden Stock.

Opare missed Ghana’s 2013 AFCON squad because of the injury and his return to action could mean starting point in weaving his way back into the Ghana team.

The former Real Madrid youngster’s only game for Liege in their domestic campaign came four months ago when he played full throttle in their 2-1 win over Anderlecht –  a side he faces again on Sunday evening.
