‘Black Stars Must Learn From Kotoko’

FORMER GHANA midfielder Abdul Razak thinks the Black Stars should take a leaf from Kotoko’s book by allowing old players of the senior national team to meet and chat with the current players before crucial games.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko, before their crucial Africa Champions League encounter with visiting Sony Nguemah in Kumasi last Sunday, allowed some old players of the club to talk to the players.

The Kotoko management’s decision of allowing the senior players to meet the current team was geared towards motivating the players about the need for them to give off their best for the club.

The new move seemed to have worked to perfection for the Porcupine Warriors, as Kotoko managed to score seven unanswered goals against their opponents who they would face in Equatorial Guinea in two weeks’ time.

Razak, who was among the ex-Kotoko stars that spoke to the players, said the meeting with the old players did the trick for the Porcupine Warriors.

He said the motivational words of the old players upped the team spirit of the squad who entered the contest with the sole mission of winning big to appease the fans.

Razak, who was voted Africa’s Best Footballer in 1978, said it was high time the Black Stars emulated Kotoko’s shining example, saying it could go a long way to help raise the spirit of the players ahead of crunch games.
