BEIJING, China, February 21, 2013/African Press Organization (APO)/ — On February 19, 2013, South African President Jacob Zuma met with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi in Cape Town. Zuma said South Africa-China relations enjoy a strong growth momentum with broad prospects and bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership has borne fruits in various fields.
Zuma said that South Africa will host the fifth BRICS summit and is looking forward to Chinese leaders attending the summit and visiting South Africa. It is a big event not only in South Africa-China relations, but also in Africa-China ties. South Africa is carrying out preparations in an orderly manner and is confident in the success of the summit and visit. South Africa is ready to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation with China in areas such as infrastructure to bring benefits to the people of the two countries and the African continent and promote common development.
Yang said under the personal attention and promotion of the leaders of the two sides, China-South Africa relations have achieved a historic leap forward with fruitful cooperation in various fields since the two countries established diplomatic relations 15 years ago. Chinese leaders will attend the fifth BRICS summit and visit South Africa. China will take this important opportunity and work closely with South Africa to jointly prepare well for the summit, deepen China-South Africa and China-Africa relations and strengthen cooperation among BRICS countries.
Yang said China and South Africa have much in common in terms of stage of development, development goals and strategies. Both sides can give further play to the complementary advantages of the two economies based on their respective development goals, to deepen cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, infrastructure construction and energy and serve development of the two countries. He believes that bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership will surely move towards a higher level.
