Ghanaian side Berekum Chelsea will report Esperance to FIFA on Wednesday if the Tunisian giants fail to pay them US$1.5m, the amount involved in the transfer of striker Emmanuel Clottey.

The Berekum-based side are heading for the world’s football governing body to force Esperance  to pay the Ghanaian club the agreed amount when they transferred Clottey in the summer.

The former African champions signed the Ghanaian player last season in a deal that attracted a whopping $1.5 million, but nearly three months since Clottey’s move to the Tunisian capital, Esperance have failed to pay Chelsea.

The Ghanaian side woke up last week to read that the player’s deal had been cancelled as cash-strapped Esperance attempt to chicken out of the deal.

But Berekum Chelsea CEO Obed Nana Nketiah aka Nana Kwame says the club will report the matter to FIFA by tomorrow if payment is not made.

Berekum Chelsea want FIFA to intervene in the matter from them to collect the amount of money owed Chelsea by Esperance following the successful transfer of Clottey to the Tunisian club last year.

He stressed that the decision by t club to go to FIFA was as a result of the failure of Esperance to honor its side of the contract with Chelsea after the deadline for the payment expired on February 10, 2013.

Nana Nketiah debunked reports in a section of the media that Esperance had terminated the contract of Clottey

In an interview with the Graphic Sports at Berekum yesterday Nana Nketiah said it was not true that Esperance had terminated the contract of Clottey.

Rather, he said, it was Chelsea that had decided to go to FIFA to claim the amount owed the club by Esperance.
