Brainy 1, known in real life as Kingsley Kofi Tay, has indicated he is set to work with artistes across the world since his passion of becoming an engineer has earned him the assistant sound engineer at Scratch Studios.
According to him, his motive of becoming a sound engineer started when ‘I went to a studio at Somanya to record a demo with my senior high school music group, ‘Nsem’ and the engineer there, Lord Guru, was raising his shoulders high and his attitude always got us upset and there and then I decided to become an engineer too after high school.’
Brainy 1 said, ‘Even though I decided to become a sound engineer out of spite and also show off, I started having the passion for it after my introduction to the software at Media World Broadcasting and Music Production School and started recording upcoming artistes in a friend’s studio,’ he added.
Brainy Beatz indicated that he does not recognize challenges because ‘I enjoy what I’m doing and my passion for the work is very strong and instead of giving in to challenges, I rather aim at composing massive beats and meeting with music legends such Hugh Masekela (South African Trumpeter), Teddy Osei of Osibisa fame and Sizzla (Jamaican reggae artiste).’
He noted that his beats are mostly of the blend of African elements and Hip hop, Dancehall, RnB, Afro-pop and Reggae which gave them the Syncos familiarity, hence ‘it was great having high life legend Ben Brako on the Dream Child Project which featured 25 both local and international artistes.
As the personality in charge of a subsidiary established by Scratch Studios to assist young and upcoming musicians who love the RnB, Dancehall, Azonto beat etc., Brainy has been able to establish a Syncos Hip Beat and has styled it under Brainy Beatz Production.
Brainy Beatz has been endorsed and recorded such grand artistes like Hugh Masekela South African Trumpeter, Samini, Obour (MUSIGA President), Steve Bedi (saxophonist), Sizzla (Jamaican reggae artiste), Paulette Broohm of Mentor 1 fame, Kwaw Kese, Preachers, Hus-Eugene (Ghanaian London-based rapper), Owura K (guitarist), and Bradez among others.
