Zamfara Govt. Sets Up Techinical Committee For Varsity Take-Off

The Zamfara Government has set up a technical committee to work out modalities for the take-off of the university approved for the state by the Federal Government.

Inaugurating the committee in Gusau on Thursday, Gov. Abdulaziz Yari said that the 11–man committee was headed by Prof. Lawal Bilbis.

According to him, the committee will assist the state government to ensure the immediate take-off of the institution approved in December 2012.

He said that the approval for the university was in fulfillment of President Goodluck Jonathan’s election campaign promises to the people of the state.

Yari commended Jonathan for his strides in the development of education in the country, and urged him not to relent in his effort.

He said that the university was a challenge to the people of the state, and assured that the state would live up to its responsibility by making the institution a model of excellence.

“Our people have received the gesture with enthusiasm as a demonstration of their quest for knowledge which is the pillar of development and progress of any society,’’ he said.

He called on the people of the state to rally round the university irrespective of their political affiliations and contribute towards its successful take-off.

Other members of the committee include Professors Tukur Adamu, Ja'afaru Makau and Yusuf Adamu.

Also in the committee are Alhaji Abbas Moriki, Alhaji Dahiru Kaura, Alhaji Salisu Yakubu, Alhaji Aliyu Ango, Alhaji Abubakar Liman and Alhaji Yusuf Moriki.

The Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning will serve as Secretary.
