Radford University Towers Over Contemporaries

Unilever’s maiden edition of IDEATROPHY, designed to unearth and boost the spirit of entrepreneurship among university students, has been won by three students of RADFORD University College in Accra.

The three won various categories of the competition.

IDEATROPHY among others, challenges students to submit a business plan worthy of implementation to UNILEVER.

Participants were taken through leadership sessions, employability, project management and brand building among others.

The five day competition which ended on Saturday, January 13 2013, saw Chineye Okore-Onu, a Level 200 Business Administration student of RADFORD UNIVERSITY COLLEGE emerging as “Miss Congeniality”.

Two other award winners also of the university, Paul Damalie, a Level 300 Business Administration student emerged as the “Most Likely Future President”, while Joyce Chachu, a Level 200 Graphic Design student was crowned, “The Iron Lady” of the competition.

Presenting their trophies officially to the university, the Acting President, Professor D.E. Amenume, challenged the students to eschew complacency and forge ahead for even greater laurels.

The Acting Executive Chairman of the university, Nana Dwomoh Sarpong, commended the students, and appreciated their perseverance.

Award winner Paul Damalie, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, commended Unilever for the instructive programme and encouraged tertiary students to be business oriented and not over-rely on government for employment after school.

The winning team of the competition will visit Unilever’s Regional office in Kenya. Deserving students took home mouth-watering prizes including laptops, blackberryphones, and ipads among others.
