Just few weeks after the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Bamanga Tukur scored what political observers said was a mileage in the power play as deputy National Working Committee (NWC) members, yesterday, passed a vote of confidence on him.
At a breakfast meeting with Tukur, Senator Umar Tsauri, who led the members, said that the meeting was at their own instance to felicitate with Tukur and also look into some key party issues.
Tsauri, who is the PDP deputy National Auditor, described as “very fruitful” their deliberations with Tukur and stressed that their discussions were for the benefit of the party.
He emphasised that they were in total support of Tukur’s leadership of the party and had no problem in passing a vote of confidence on him.
“Today we told the National Chairman of the party of his leadership capabilities and the way he manages crisis and we are confident in his style of leadership.
“Our meeting with him was fruitful and we discussed the development of the party and passed a vote of confidence on him.”
Senator Tsauri, however, declined to respond to questions on the faceoff between Tukur and the PDP governors and explained that they were national officers of the party while the governors were operating at the state level.
He said that crisis in a large party like the PDP was inevitable and added that the party has the capacity to address its problems no matter how difficult it seemed.
