Emulate Southeast Governors, NUJ Charges Northern Governors

NUJ President, Mr. Mohammed Garba
The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), has charged the Northern state governors to emulate their south-eastern counterpart in the fight against insecurity in the region.
NUJ President, Mr. Mohammed Garba made this charge weekend in Awka during the ongoing National Good Governance Tour to Anambra State.
Garba urged the northern governors to adopt similar strategy to ensure peace and security in their domains.
He also advised northern state governors to collaborate with the federal government in returning peace to the region.
“The governors are known to be chief security officers but there has to be synergy between state governments and the federal government to achieve peace in their respective states,” he said.
He lauded the governors of south-eastern states over their efforts in tackling the challenge of insecurity in their domains to attract investments for the good of their people.
He stated that peace and security were the catalysts for societal development, thereby enjoined the governors to collaborate with stakeholders to achieve peace in their communities.
The NUJ president regretted that the menace of insecurity was an obstacle to growth and development in the north, noting that stakeholders in the north must do something to salvage the situation.
