The Permanent Secretary, Sokoto State Ministry of Education, Mohammed Bello Abukakar is currently being quizzed by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC over alleged involvement in corruption and abuse of office.
A reliable source at the commission disclosed this to LEADERSHIP yesterday.
The source added that the permanent secretary was picked up on Tuesday by the operatives of the EFCC, following intelligence report which suggested that he was living above his source of income.
Abubakar, who was named Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education in June 2012, had served in the same capacity for five years in the Ministry of Local government. Some of the assets traced to Abubakar are choice properties including the palatial mansion where he is living and a shopping complex.
He also allegedly owns state of the art vehicles including a Mercedes Benz E-200 , Audi A-7, GMC SUV ( all 2012 models).
