Gombe Recruits 3,000 under SURE – P

As part of efforts to enhance the socio-economic wellbeing of the people, Gombe State has recruited 3,000 youths, women and the vulnerable under the Federal Government’s Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE – P).

Speaking briefly after commencement of the recent recruitment exercise, Chairman of the state implementation committee, Alhaji Adamu Yaro Gombe, said 7,000 would still be engaged under the same subhead.

He said another 1,000 youths, out of which 142 females have been identified, would be engaged under the internship programme.

Gombe explained that the focus of the programme would be rehabilitation of health facilities, rehabilitation of primary and secondary schools, construction of mini water projects, infrastructure and constructions, environment related activities and social services like security, traffic control and enforcement of sanitation.

He called on eligible companies to partner the implementation committee with a view to making the programme successful.

“I strongly recommend this project to the entire people of Gombe state, particularly the groups discussed now. This SURE – P intervention would provide the ground for jump-starting individual economies and by extension, the nation at large.

On his part, Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo lauded the programme for aiming at poverty reduction nationwide through provision of jobs for teeming youths, women and the vulnerable in the society.

He then charged the implementation committee to visit all the local government areas of the state and meet with stakeholders in their domains to share ideas on the best ways of implementing the programme.

He identified Local Government Area Chairman and Council, District Heads, Community Leaders, opinion leaders, Faith Based Organisations, Civil Society Organisations/NGOs, Community Development Organisations and all other stakeholders as those who the implementation committee should among others meet with.

The governor equally solicited the support of all and sundry to enable the committee succeed in implementing its laudable programmes in the various communities.
