Ghana is determined to beat Niger in order to top Group B and remain in Port Elizabeth, assistant coach Maxwell Konadu says.

The Black Stars face the Menas in the final group game at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Monday.

Ghana will retain its lead in Group B with a win over Niger which also means the Black Stars will remain in Port Elizabeth for the quarter final match.

Konadu has emphasized the desire to remain in the Eastern Cape as the team is settled with the environment of the city.

“We are loving it here, the players are getting used to the environment and the stadium in particular and we want to stay here,” he said.

“So what we need to do is to do our very best to try and win the Niger match and to top our group to make sure we stay here.”

Ghana will be facing teams from Group A in the quarter finals once qualification is secured on Monday.

This means there is a real prospect of the Black Stars playing against hosts South Africa who have the support of the whole nation at their disposal.
