The MTN Soccer Academy 6 Skuulz Challenge will no doubt present patrons of the Show with another spectacle on a night that will see a beautiful blend of great soccer talents, fun and entertainment, as the competition holds its first Eviction Show this Sunday at the plush Soccer Academy house at Ridge in Accra.

The eviction, though one of the most exciting, is also one of mixed emotions, as fans witness their favourite teammate leave the house, whiles teammates who are lucky to escape eviction, experience some nostalgia at the sight of their evicted colleague, as they begin to reflect on all the good times they have spent together and the bond of brotherliness they would be missing.

Shedding light on the Eviction, MD of OMP, organizers of the Event, Mr. Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe, explained that “like all Reality Shows in the world, the eviction shows form an integral component of the Soccer Academy Reality Show, as they in the end, pave the way for the declaration of the ultimate winner”. Mr. Armstrong-Mortagbe further noted that careful and thorough modalities were followed to determine who was evicted and who was able to stay in the competition through to the finals. He revealed that the criteria used to measure a teammate’s performance included, among other factors, a teammate’s approach both to training and competitive matches, level of progress over time, as well as attitude towards fellow teammates both on and off the field of play.

He added that another very important constituent was the input of the fans via the SMS votes, which he described as indispensable, because “we believe that the opinion of our fans is as important as the marks of the judges”.

He, however, stressed that a teammate’s exit from the competition does not necessarily mean he is not a good player, but that the very essence of the Show makes it imperative.

Head Coach of the Soccer Academy, Herbert Addo, also hinted that this Sunday’s eviction will feature the teammates in a 5-a-side match between two teams drawn from the entire membership of this year’s Academy House, who have been nicknamed, “Team OMP” and “Team MTN”. He urged fans to troop to the Soccer Academy grounds in their numbers to cheer and support their favourite teammate.

The stakes are obviously high in this year’s MTN Soccer Academy Skuulz Challenge, as representatives of fourteen second cycle and tertiary institutions in the country battle for honours for both themselves and their respective schools.

Mr. Armstrong-Mortagbe urged fans to power their favourite team mates away from eviction by texting their numbers to the short code 1950, on all networks.

The Eviction Show will be telecast live on Ghana’s most celebrated Sports station, Metro TV, who are also the Event’s official TV Partners.

The MTN Soccer Academy is an initiative of Optimum Media Prime, a member of the Global Village Group and is proudly sponsored by MTN.
