Taraba ex deputy gov wants Umar sworn in

A former deputy governor of Taraba State, Senator Saleh Usman Danboyi, has called for the confirmation of the acting governor of Taraba State, Garba Umar as substantive governor to stop what he called “administrative standstill in the state.”

He told reporters in Abuja that since Governor Danbaba Sunati was involved in a plane crash three months ago, the state has been at a standstill  saying this is worrisome to many in the state.
Danboyi who represented Taraba South constituency between 2003-2007 in the Senate and was deputy governor under former Governor Jolly Nyame between 1993 – 2003 said in any civilized society, the citizens ought to know the health condition of their leaders and that the situation of things in Taraba shows the state is shadow of itself when the ailing governor was in charge.
“Our governor was involved in a fatal plane crash and he was taken to Germany ever since we have not heard anything regarding his health status and this is causing much concern to the entire people of Taraba State. We have the acting governor in the state, but things are not moving particularly the developmental projects which involves capital projects. They are not forthcoming.
“Nothing is moving. And it is believed in any civilized society that if their leader is sick they ought to know the position of his health and we haven’t heard anything we are being treated just like fools. We don’t know what is happening in Taraba State with reference to his   health. Nobody addresses us and we haven’t heard anything from him.”
He said the pictures of the governor with his wife and twin babies are not sufficient evidence to prove that the governor is responding to treatment.
“We don’t wish him any bad omen, we want him to be well and recover very quickly, but we want to know the position of his health,” he said adding that he’ll go to court if the situation the real condition of the governor is not disclosed.
