Customs Comptroller visits Sifax Ports & Cargo

Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Mr. Dikko Abdullahi, recently paid a courtesy call to the Tin-Can Island Port, Lagos, to ascertain the physical level of development there.

The Group Executive Vice-Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Sifax Group, owners of Ports & Cargo Handling Services Limited, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, received the CG, a statement from the firm said.

According to the statement, Afolabi, in company with members of his management team, took the CG on a tour of the facilities at the terminal. He showed Abdullahi the new state-of-the-art equipment acquired by the company within six years of taking over operations and management of terminal ‘C’ of the Tin-Can Island Port.

It said, “The equipment include the recently acquired brand new 10 RTGs and six shore cranes amongst others. The CG, in company with his lieutenants, including CAC of Tin-Can, Compt. Tunji Aremu, DCG, amongst others, was full of commendation for Ports & Cargo Handling Services for the level of investment and transformation of the terminal to a respectable port.”

The statement said Abdullahi promised that businesses in the Nigerian Ports would be done in line with global best practices, especially as the NCS takes over from the destination inspection agencies, starting from 2013.
