Ghana striker Samuel Afum has began training with Swiss side Young Boys Bern after completing a three-and-half-year move last week.

The 22-year-old joined his new team-mates at Young Boys on Thursday and hugely impressed boss Martin Rueda with his extraordinary pace and deft on the ball.

The former Ghana Premier League top golden shoe winner arrived back in Bern from Accra on Thursday and fully took part of Thursday’s training session at the Young Boys training complex.

Afum will travel to Spain next week with Young Boys as part of their preparations for the start of the second round of the Swiss Super League.

“I arrived on Thursday and took part of training. Everything went well for me and I was very satisfied though the weather is very chilly here,” he told Ghanasoccernet.com.

“We will travel to Spain next week and hopefully I will play my first game for the club and we see how things will go.

Afum, who bagged 23 goals in two seasons for Egyptian side FC Smouha, is hoping to translate his fine form to the Stade de Suisse Wankdorf Bern.

“Its a new challenge for me and I take it on. I have to work to justify the reason why I have been brought here.
