Indian side Prayag United are in talks with former Black Satellites coach Sellas Tetteh as one of numerous steps to improve the technical and tactical capabilities of their youth teams, goal.com reports.
Tetteh guided the Black Satellites to the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which had made Ghana the first African side to win the competition.
Prayag United’s club official Nabab Bhattacharya revealed the plans to rope in the Ghanaian coach, as the second step to help improve the playing capabilities of their players, after bringing in Eelco Schattorie as the coach of the first team.
“Prayag United has spoken to Mr. Sellas Tetteh, who is a former Ghana U-20 World Cup coach about taking up the responsibility of our U-20 team. He is a great coach but all these things are dependent on the budget and other considerations.”
“Clubs are looking towards youth development. Hence it is more important we bring good foreign coaches, who are technically brilliant,” Bhattacharya continued.
“I am keeping Tetteh informed about our activities and our vision for the youth team. However any move is dependent on our budget for next year and I am not sure what that is going to be. But we shall definitely look to rope in a foreign coach for our youth team in the future,” he further added.
Tetteh, who has held a coaching position in various age-group sides of Ghana before even being an interim first team coach, last held the position of Rwanda’s national team. He however resigned on 6th September 2011, after guiding the Amavubi Stars to just a single win in five 2012 CAF African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
