It’s a live show, so anything can happened.

But unfortunately for Jahmene Douglas and Nicole Scherzinger, a technical error almost ruined their duet together.

Singing Whitney Houston’s Greatest Love during the X Factor final on Saturday, Nicole’s microphone broke down, forcing her to share one with her act Jahmene.

After figuring out her microphone was
not working, Nicole rushed over to Jahmene and took his microphone to
continue singing her part, with the two later sharing it to complete the
song.

Both stars showed signs of frustration, but continued and delivered the dramatic ballad pitch-perfect.

Despite the fact the two managed to belt out the song without errors, Nicole did seem upset afterwards by the technical error.

Dermot O’Leary declared: ‘This is the biggest show in the UK and we can’t afford two working mics?’

‘That’s what a live performance is all about!’

However, Nicole was not impressed, saying: ‘Well it sucks when your mic is not on, but he’s my little angel and to share the stage with him, that’s the reason that I’m here.’

Earlier, Jahmene declared his love for
his mentor, saying how she always sends him messages and texts and she’s
‘the best mentor anyone could ask for’.

Nicole later returned to the stage to duet with her other act, James
Arthur, and luckily for the duo, both their mics worked perfectly.

Belting out the emotional song Make You Feel My Love, made famous by Adele, the two got a standing ovation from the crowd.

And Nicole sizzled in a daring leather mini dress and a pair of sexy thigh-high boots.

Talking about James, the mentor said afterwards: ‘I’m just so proud of him, he’s a revelation.’

James said: ‘I just got to say thank you Nicole, you got my confidence back and you’ve been the best mentor.’

Meanwhile,
Christopher Maloney sang with his mentor Gary Barlow.

Taking on the
Take That classic Rule The World with Gary behind the piano, the duo
delighted the Manchester audience and were the envy of Dermot.

‘You got to sing Rule The World with Gary, I’m so jealous!’ he joked afterwards.

And Christopher agreed: ‘He’s been my idol since I was about this big. This was such an honour.’
