Egypt: Referendum On New Constitution Starts Abroad On Saturday

Spokesman of Foreign Ministry Amr Roshdy said on Monday 3/12/2012 that a referendum on the new constitution will start abroad for Egyptian expatriates on Saturday 8/12/2012. It is to last for four days.

Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr decided to extend working hours of the Egyptian embassies and consulates to be from 8 am to 8 pm in order to give the opportunity to expatriates to participate in the referendum, Roshdy said.

The referendum will be held in all the Egyptian embassies as well as in 11 general consulates.

High Election Committee (HEC) is providing ballots on its website for nationals who have registered to vote abroad during the last election.

Voters can either come in person to cast their ballot or send it by mail.

The voter has to offer a photocopy of a document that affirms he is living in this country as well as his national ID card or his computerized passport.
