Former Hearts of Oak helmsman, Charles Akunnor is convinced the club still have a massive cleansing to do and he is advising them to execute what he thinks is very important for the former Ghana champions even if he is no more at their helm.

Akunnor became the first coaching casualty of the 2012/13 Glo Ghana Premier League season after Hearst gave him the sack five games into the new season following an admittedly poor start to the campaign. 4 points from a possible 15 was enough to necessitate the boot for the former Ghana captain on the back of losing 3 straight league games. Akunnor admits he got the inevitable but the former Sekondi Eleven Wise coach wants Hearts to solve their problems which he insists could last long even after him if not addressed.

“There were a lot of problems with the club before I went there and they have still not been addressed. I was there and the problems were still there, they were not solved,” Coach Akunnor told Supersport’s Soccer Africa programme on DSTV.

He continued: “There are problems and it’s very important that they wash up, cleanse up things. They need to work on it because Hearts of Oak is a big, big club, they are known all over the place.”

Akunnor is reluctant to hit back at many accusing fingers that accused him that he had lost the dressing room. A situation that apparently got to its head after he clashed with star player, Laryea Kingston. “When things don’t go right, people will start saying all kinds of things. Do you think that if I was still there, will they say I didn’t have any relationship with them? I knew I could turn things around but I’m not bitter,” Akunnor said.
