ENSG appoints acting chairman state council of chiefs

The Enugu State government has appointed the traditional ruler of Essodo Kingdom in Enugu Ezike, Igboeze North Local Government of the state, Igwe Simeon Osisi Itodo as the acting chairman of the State Council of Traditional Rulers.

Igwe Itodo was appointed following the demise of the former  Chairman, Igwe Joseph Chibuiko,   from Umumba Ndi Agu Community, Ezeagu Local Government Area.

The new Acting Chairman was until his appointment, the Deputy Chairman of the council of traditional rulers from 1999 to 2003 and again in 2007, under late Igwe Onovo.

Igwe Itodo, aSecondRepublicmember of the House of Representatives, was a former treasurer, South –East Council of traditional rulers and member National Council of Traditional Rulers.

Confirming the story, the Enugu State Commissioner for Chieftaincy Matters, Pastor Emeka Abugu said that the appointment was conventional due to the demise of Igwe Chibuko who had held the position for quite some time.

According to him, ‘’Igwe Itodo became the acting Chairman of the State Council of traditional rulers by convention.’’

Igwe Itodo has won several laurels including the Presidential Award in 2008 for his active roles against illicit and small arms and light weapons proliferation in, Enugu State and the state Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, award for community Services and South-East 2011security award for the most outstanding service among numerous others.
