Gambia: Berewuleng Crowned BYSC Female League Champions

Berewuleng FC on Sunday defeated Newtown Youths 2-0 in the Brikama Youths and Sports Committee (BYSC) female league final in a match played on Sunday at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium. As winners Berewuleng got a trophy with a cash prize of D5000, whilst Newtown were given D3000. Agie Jallow scored the opener in the 10th minute, while Sainey Sissohore got the second in the 55th minute.

Speaking to the Observer Sports after the match, the head coach of Berewuleng, Fakebba Saine, said the victory was not a surprise to him because he had the confidence and believed that his side can do the impossible. Coach Saine encouraged his girls to keep up the great momentum and to continue taking the game seriously as it will positively impact on their lives. He thanked BYSC for coming up with such a wonderful initiative and encouraged them to continue with the work good.

The Captain of Berewuleng, Amicolleh Saineh, said that they can do more than this in as much as the unity and understanding is there. She also assured their fans that they will continue producing trophies for them. The head coach of Newtown, Lamin Fadera, said that he accepted the defeat in good faith, and would not blame his girls because they tried their utmost best.
