President John Mahama has said that his government will review the Public Procurement Act to favor local industries in the country, should Ghanaians honor him with their votes in next week’s crucial presidential and parliamentary elections.

Addressing students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology late Tuesday, President Mahama said this will make it binding on government, to procure goods that Ghanaian industries are capable of producing.

He told the students, “this is just one of the several packages” his government has to offer, to ensure the growth of local industries and create jobs, which is his “number one focus”.

President Mahama also promised to ensure the local content bill which is currently being worked on, does not only work in the oil and gas industry but all other sectors.

According to the President, this will enable government to insist on a certain amount of local content so that the local private sector can be stimulated as well as enabling them to expand and employ more people.

The President is expected to end his campaign tour of the Ashanti region Wednesday, and will be expected to begin the Central regional campaign tour later the same day.
