Man Hacks Lover

KILLED! Esther Ama Asiedua

The murder of 32-year-old Esther Ama Asiedua by her boyfriend at Gyankama, near Aburi, in the Akwapim South District of the Eastern Region, yesterday, shocked the residents of the usually quiet community.

Ama Asiedua was killed by her lover, Kwadwo Agyiri, 32, at about 1am yesterday, after which he tried to set her body ablaze.

He later consumed some poisonous substance and died later at the hospital, police said.

The spectacle of the mortal remains of the woman was preceded by loud screams and what sounded like a struggle between two persons in a house, according to residents of the neighbourhood where the crime occurred.

When some young men forced their way into the room to establish what was amiss, they were shocked to find lying lifeless on the ground the body of a woman whose head was the target of multiple cuts.

According to a resident, Osei Kwadwo, Agyiri attempted to set fire to the room to cover up his gruesome act but his younger brother saw him stuffing a blood soaked bed sheet into his car boot and raised the alarm.
Kwadwo Agyiri, a construction material supplier, according to a member of the group which broke into the house, attempted committing suicide by drinking an unspecified poisonous substance after ending the life of Ama but was found early and rushed to the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital at Mampong, Akwapim, where he died later.

When DAILY GUIDE reached the hospital, Kwadwo Agyiri was found in a critical condition, handcuffed to the hospital bed and under police guard.

The elder brother of Agyiri said his brother was a quiet person who would not hurt a fly and wondered how he was able to muster such courage to kill the woman.

He said his brother, a polygamist, lived with his younger wife at Aburi but visited Ama Asiedua regularly at Gyankama, where she sold sweets and biscuits.

No reason has been given for the murder but some people suspect promiscuity.
