Lawyer petititons CHRAJ over GIPC payment to Mahama group

CHRAJ boss, Lauretta Lamptey

A private legal practitioner has petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to investigate the alleged payment of money by the GIPC, to the Volunteers For Mahama, a group campaigning for President John Mahama.

Mr. Mohammed Awal Alhassan is seeking a declaration that the Chief Executive of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, Mr George Aboagye and the Board Chairman, Mr. Ishmael Yamson, abused their office in the matter.

He wants the Commission to look into reports that Mr. Yamson received GH¢20,000 from the GIPC for his birthday celebrations. Mr. Yamson earlier told Joy FM the cheque for GH¢20,000 has been returned.

But Mr. Alhassan wants CHRAJ to recover the amount of GH¢20,000 he said was unlawfully paid to Mr. Yamson.
