“Naija Gangnam style” storms the scene

The Gangnam style dance move from South Korean rapper Park Jae-sang is now full time in Nigeria, but not only as a result of the vibrations this hit song sent across the globe; rather, it’s because a Nigerian artist has done a replica of the song.

Enter Mo’ Eazy

Mo’Eazy is not a green horn in the Nigerian entertainment business. His first single “Kosoro” threw a good number radio listeners in dance fits every time it was aired and you could tell right from the first second, this was talent singing in your ears and that someday, he would be a big name in the industry.

Mo’ Eazy, however, doesn’t plan to sit it out,  he intends to fast forward to that time.

His version of the song has it’s fangs deep in the original Korean pop beats only that this time, it’s sang in English with yoruba language sprinkled in at the bridge. Mo’ Eazy has a video out to further push this song but it’s difficult to judge if he can actually rock the ”Gangnam style” because like Weird MC’s “Ijo ya”, this entire video is cartoon illustrated.

‘Eazy pushed hard on his strengths as a rap artist  as he unleashed a lyrical flow that should leave anyone stunned, but then like all artistes who have done versions from reigning hit songs, (Banky W a very good example) Mo’ eazy would be questioned on motive and originality. He would also be accused of trying a quick short cut to fame land and a weak attempt to striking gold.

But then, controversies in the music business works altogether for good.

The Gangnam style is a K-pop single by South Korean artist PSY. The song was released as the lead single of his sixth studio album PSY 6 (Six Rules), Part 1. “Gangnam Style” debuted at number one on the Gaon Chart, the national record chart of South Korea. As of November 25, 2012, the music video has been viewed over 820 million times on YouTube, and is the site’s most watched video after surpassing Justin Bieber’s single “Baby”
