One of Ghana’s seasoned actors, Kwabena Bediako, who featured in the television series ‘Small World’, ‘Sun City’, and movies such as ‘Koofori in London’, ‘Cross My Heart’, among others, last Saturday donated items including exercise books, school uniforms, stationeries and cash to the God Almighty International School at Kukurantumi in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

During the presentation of the items worth thousands of Ghana Cedis, Kwabena Bediako, aka IBK, announced that based on his commitment in supporting the needy in society he initiated a move to positively affect the lives of over 1,000 needy but brilliant school children across Ghana.

He disclosed to BEATWAVES in an interview that plans were far advanced to launch the foundation as well as ‘Medie Nie’ promotion to raise funds to assist needy but brilliant students and some selected needy institutions in the country.

He also promised to collaborate with some of the country’s finest music and movie icons to stage series of musical concerts to raise funds for the project.

This, he said, formed part of his foundation’s efforts to give back to the society which had contributed to his successful showbiz career.

Kwabena Bediako, who is the chief executive officer of Ayuda Life Foundation, is one of the very few rising figures in the Ghanaian movie industry who has been groomed to become a super star in the near future. He featured prominently in the ‘Taxi Driver’, a television series on GTV some years back.

His performance in the ‘Taxi Driver’ series put his splendour ahead of most of his colleagues in the movie industry.

What has kept him shinning on the acting runway has been his untiring determination to reach the top.

He announced that he would soon undertake an educational campaign tour to encourage students to learn extra hard to become influential people in society, despite the conditions they found themselves in.

The soft-spoken showbiz icon, who is also one of the sales managers at Vodafone, also declared his foundation would soon provide scholarship and free exercise books to needy students nationwide.

The CEO of Ayuda Life Foundation is targeting 1,000 needy but brilliant students nationwide who would benefit from his outfit.

He told BEATWAVES that “I want to help the less-privileged children in acquiring knowledge because knowledge is power and education is the key to success. Education breeds respect, enhances the chances of a better living. Therefore, with my contribution, the needy can gain the knowledge to live a better life.”

He disclosed that he has started discussions with some selected schools in the country to get a list of needy but brilliant students, adding that the project would take off in the Eastern Region with 50 students.

He appealed to individuals and organizations to contribute toward the project to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged in society.
