Kenya: Visa Card Holders Get First Chance to Buy Cup Tickets

Starting today, Visa card holders have an exclusive ten-day opportunity to purchase tickets to the 2013 Fifa Confederations Cup in Brazil before they are made available to the general public. The pre-sale offer will close on November 30.

Ticket sales to the general public will open on December 3; two days after the official draw takes place in Sao Paulo, Brazil on December 1. The tickets will be sold exclusively via Fifa.com, the official event website.

The two-week tournament will kick off on June15, 2013 at six venues across Brazil and will feature four past FIFA World Cup champions and four continental champions.

“As a proud Fifa Partner for all tournaments, we want to offer our cardholders the opportunity to buy tickets in advance to one of the most popular sporting events in the world. The upcoming Fifa Confederations Cup Brazil 2013 is another showcase of Visa’s commitment to demonstrating the convenience of card usage among Kenya’s Visa cardholders.” Visa Country Manager for Kenya Victor Ndlovu said.

During the pre-sale phase, Visa cardholders will be able to purchase FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013 tickets for Categories 1-3 on a first-come, first-served basis. The six Brazilian cities set to host matches are Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Fortaleza, Recife,Rio de Janeiro and Salvador.

Eight teams from around the world will compete in the Confederations Cup with seven of those coveted spots having already been claimed.

The field consists of Spain (2010 World Cup champions), Brazil (hosts), Italy (Uefa Euro 2012 runner-up to Spain), Mexico (2011 Concacaf Gold Cup champion), Uruguay (Copa America 2011 champion), Japan (AFC Asian Cup 2011 champion) and Tahiti (OFC Nations Cup 2012 champion).

The representative from Africa will be determined at the CAF African Nations Cup in February 2013.
