Jonathan appoints Bulkachuwa as Acting President, Court of Appeal

President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday approved the appointment of Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa As the new Acting President Of The Court Of Appeal.

This follows the expiration Of tenure and retirement of the Acting PCA, Justice Dalhatu Adamu.

Adamu was appointed Acting PCA on August 22, 2011 following the crisis of confidence between then PCA, Justice Isa Salami, and then Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu.

The situation led to Salami’s suspension on August 18, 2011.

Jonathan reappointed Adamu after his initial six-month term expired although the National Judicial Council had declared this as illegal.

Jonathan and the NJC have failed to recall Salami on the grounds that there are some suits pending on his suspension.

The Chief Justice Of Nigeria, Justice Alooma Mukthar will on Friday swear Bulkachuwa in.
