The Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) has embarked on a massive branch rehabilitation and refurbishment programme to make its banking halls serene and conducive to banking business.

It is part of efforts to provide convenience for customers and reposition the bank as one of the best performing financial institutions.

Mr Kojo Addae-Mensah, the Chief Operating Officer, who made this known, said 70 branches have been targeted.

He was speaking at a ceremony to relocate the Sefwi-Wiawso branch in the Western Region to a modern and spacious building in the town.

Mr Addae-Mensah said so far they are through with seven branches including Tarkwa, Dadieso, Ejisu, Sefwi-Wiawso, Samreboi and Abeka Lapaz.

In addition to improved environment, the bank was also providing a wide range of products and services such as the “GCB 24-hour personal loan”, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) services, “SMS banking and internet banking.”

Mr Addae-Mensah said to complement the investments made by way of refurbishment and introduction of products and services, the bank was training its staff to provide excellent services to customers.

Mr Addae-Mensah commended the people in the Sefwi-Wiawso area for their continued loyalty to the bank for the past 50 years and said in addition to the relocation to provide a spacious hall it was also providing modern banking facilities at their door step.

He advised the people to make maximum use of the bank while urging the staff to improve on their relationship with customers to increase its savings mobilization.
