Uganda/Tanzania: Hayatou to Preside Over Cecafa Cup

THE Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Issa Hayatou will preside over the official opening of this year’s Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup due in Kampala next weekend.

The Continental football leader is expected in Kampala on Thursday, said a statement issued by the Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA).

“His (Hayatou’s) visit is partly in recognition of CECAFA’s continued stable development of the game of football in the region,” read the statement. Hayatou’s visit follows an invitation extended to him by the CECAFA President Leodgar Tenga.

The CAF president will be accompanied by several CAF officials, including the General Secretary Hicham El Amrani. Other confirmed members of the delegation are Mohamed Raouraoua, Constant Omari and Ngangue Appolinaire.

During his stay in Uganda, the CAF President will attend the CECAFA Congress at Serena Hotel on Friday, before presiding over the official opening of the regional club championship at Namboole stadium the following evening
