Northern Ghana Will Get A Modern Correctional Facility – NPP

The Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has indicated his government will build a modern correctional facility in Northern Ghana.

“It is time another prison like the Ankaful correctional centre is built in the Northern sector of the country,” he stated.

Former President John Evans Atta Mills in November 2011 inaugurated the 2,000 capacity ultra modern prison building complex at Ankaful which has a modern clinic and a football pitch.

Addressing party supporters in Koforidua in the Eastern Region on Thursday, the leader of the main opposition party said the facility will help to ease the congestion at the correctional facility at Ankaful.

Nana Addo also saluted the Ghana Immigration Services for their continuous efforts in keeping the country’s borders safe.

According to Nana Addo, the Service had a key role to play in his government saying, “the Ghana Immigration Service will have a critical role to play in the next NPP government’s bid to embark on the economic transformation of Ghana,” he said.

“We will focus therefore on equipping the service with improved modern state of the art technology that enhances and facilitates the execution of their given mandate,” he added.

Nana Addo further also congratulated the Fire Service for their valiant effort in saving property and lives when fire gutted some markets in the country.

“To the men and women of the Fire Service, I wish to congratulate you warmly on your efforts. The Melcom disaster has called for greater resourcing of the service such that we do not have to rely on external assistance in carrying out such functions”.
