Ghana 2012 Peace Concert launched to promote peaceful elections

Ministry of Chieftaincy and Culture in collaboration with World Star Records has launched a peace concert campaign to promote peace before, during and after this year’s elections.

The initiative dubbed: “Avoiding Conflict and Mayhem in the upcoming Elections” would be used as a platform to sensitize Ghanaians about the importance of peace for national development.

The concert, which is a nationwide initiative aimed to champion peaceful election would be held in Accra, Kumasi, Ho, Tamale and some other parts of Europe.

Speaking at the Lunch on Wednesday in Accra, Amanzeba Nat Brew, a musician and peace ambassador said peace was vital to the development of every nation therefore the need for this peace campaign.

He urged all Ghanaians to be peace ambassadors and imbibe peace at all levels. “Peace has to be comprehensive. We all need to join the crusade of preaching wherever we find ourselves”, he added.

Mr Ernest Djan, Chief Executive Officer of World Star Records, said the initiative would use songs, sermons and culture displays to promote peace for free and fair elections. He advised the youth to lead the crusade for peaceful elections.
