Morocco: Demonstration Outside Morocco’s Embassy in Rome for Release of Saharawi Political Detainees

Rome — A group of Italian activists, friends of the Saharawi people, organized Saturday a demonstration outside Morocco’s embassy in Rome to demand the release of the Saharawi political detainees and the end of occupation in Western Sahara.

The demonstration aimed at protesting the postponement of trail of the 23rd Saharawi political prisoners, who participated in the protests that followed the dismantling of Gdeim Izik camp by Moroccan military forces on November 2010.

The demonstrators, who were holding Saharawi flags, raised a broad banner reads “peace and freedom immediately for the Saharawi people.”

They also called for the respect of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.
