Cairo — The extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Angola to Egypt, António Fernando da Costa, last Sunday in Cairo City received the envoy of the Egyptian president, Mohammed Morsi, with whom he discussed matters relating to the co-operation between the two countries, as well as last August 31 elections in Angola.
According to the Angolan ambassador, who spoke to ANGOP in the end of the audience granted to Abd El Aziz El-sherif, Egyptian president’s special envoy, in the ambit of the November 11 date (Angola’s independence day), during the meeting the two personalities discussed matters relating to the current situation in Egypt, the results of last August 31 elections in Angola, the creation of a new government and National Assembly (Parliament).
He said he requested the top envoy to present to Mr Morsi the Angolan president’s compliments and wish of a good presidential term.
Angola and Egypt have a relationship dating back to 1976, year in which the Arab country opened its diplomatic office in Angola.
In the ambit of the celebrations of Angola’s National Independence Day (November 11, 1975) the embassy in Egypt organised a series of activities to mark the date, with highlight on an exhibition on Angolan tourism places, a reception and a music show by the Angolan singer Selda.
