Pastor Otabil speaks on Free SHS policy tomorrow

Pastor Mensah Otabil

Pastor Mensa Otabil, the General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), has announced he would clear the air about the hullabaloo surrounding his comments on free education, and make his stand on the free SHS policy clear.

The policy has been the main tagline of the opposition New Patriotic Party as it goes into the 2012 general elections.

Pastor Mensa Otabil was recently dragged into the political arena with the circulation of tape on a sermon he delivered, purporting that the man of God opposes the free SHS policy touted by the NPP.

Though Pastor Otabil has not personally commented on the issue, an Associate Pastor of ICGC, Rev. Kofi Okyere remarked that the contents of the tape were contained in a sermon he delivered about 10 years ago.

Meanwhile, Pastor Otabil himself is expected to address the media on Monday morning to set the record straight on his stand when it comes to the free SHS policy.

He announced this to his congregation on Sunday, November 11, 2012.

He told them that often when his name comes up in the media about an issue, he keeps quiet and allows things to die in their natural way, but he would not threat this very issue in the same manner.

Rev. Kofi Okyere who confirmed tomorrow’s press conference to Joy News said “Dr Otabil would be speaking to the issue that has been leveled against him and to clear the air.”

He noted that even though a press release was issued to clarify the issue, people still persist to circulate certain information, which said are against “his image and his reputation”.

Rev. Okyere pointed out: “This is a follow up to the press release; it looks like it has not answered many of the questions [for] those who put out the voice….And he wants to clear the air so that his reputation is not stained.”
