Togbe Afede Re-elected

Volta Regional House of Chiefs on Thursday re-elected Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of Asogli State as President of the House for a second four-year term.

The House also re-elected Nana Soglo Alloh IV, Paramount Chief of Likpe as Vice-President. The two were re-elected unopposed.
Five other members of the House were elected to represent the region at the National House of Chiefs.
The elections were done at the House’s General Meeting which also witnessed the admission of 24 Paramount Chiefs as permanent members of the House.

Togbe Kwaku Ayim IV, Paramount Chief of Ziavi described Togbe Afede and Nana Alloh as visionary leaders and commended them for their foresight and leadership styles.

Togbe Afede expressed gratitude to the House and commended members for their support towards the pursuance of “a strong development agenda that has given birth to the Volta Development Plan, the Volta Region Development Agency and the Volta-Ningxia Sister Regions Agreement”. “We believe that, sooner than later, we shall begin to see the fruits of these initiatives, and we are grateful for your support,” he said.

Togbe Afede commended members of the various committees for their meritorious services to the House. He reiterated the call on the chiefs to ensure that peace prevail at the December polls and be prepared to work with any elected government. Togbe Afede also urged politicians to respect the desire of Ghanaians for peace.
