My Father Died Wishing For Obama’s Victory, Harriman’s Daughter Says

ONE of Nigeria’s foremost businessmen, Chief Hope Harriman, who died on Wednesday night, had one last wish: Barack Obama’s victory in the United State’s presidential election.

According to the deceased’s daughter, Temi Harriman, who spoke with The Guardian from London Friday, her father kept asking for updates on the election while breathing his last in a Washington hospital.

Recounting the last moment of the philanthropist, Temi, a former member of the House of Representatives, said the deceased was taken to the hospital after complaining of breathing problems about two weeks ago.

“Unfortunately, he could not come out of the anaesthesia because of his old age,” she said, adding that her father died two-month before his 80th birthday.

Thanking God for a life well lived, she said, “He was in good spirit throughout his 10 days of stay in the U.S. hospital and kept asking whether Obama has won the election and they later told him. He was always traveling and he died an accomplished man.”
