Anambra no longer a pariah State – Obi

Gov. Peter Obi said that part of the programme of his Government was to extricate Anambra State from her pariah status, which she was when he became the Governor of the State. He said this on Thursday while paying working visits to the European Union(EU) and UNICEFnin Abuja.

Obi said that his constant visit to those organizations was due to his personal commitment to reach out, and maintain the friendship of organizations and individuals that are committed to development. “When I became the Governor, Anambra State did not enjoy relationship with international organizations because it was regarded as a pariah State, even among international and donor agencies that all had sour stories to tell, but today, through doing the right things, international organizations are all back to the State. Because of our performances and experiences with them, others are willing to partner with us”

Obi who visited the European Union(EU) and was received by her Ambassador, Dr. David MacRae and UNICEF, where the Country Representative, Ibrahim Falls received him, said he visited the two organizations as part of periodic visits that allowed him to interact with them, thereby noting how the State is performing and how to continue to improve on that performance.
