Johannesburg – A youth has been killed in an apparent revenge attack at Tshedimosetso Secondary School in Jouberton, North West police said on Thursday.

Captain Pelonomi Makau said a 20-year-old stabbed his 18-year-old schoolmate on Wednesday.

His attacker apparently suspected him of being involved in the murder of his older cousin on Sunday.

“On Sunday, the deceased and [an]other three boys accompanied a lady to her place. On the way they met her boyfriend, who confronted her about her being away for the weekend,” said Makau.

Two of the youths and the boyfriend started arguing. The boyfriend was stabbed and died on the scene.

“Two boys were arrested for the murder. They were expected to appear in Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court today [Thursday],” he said.

On Wednesday, the 18-year-old and his schoolmate argued about what had happened on Sunday.

“[The youth] was stabbed with a rusted Okapi knife in the chest. He was taken to hospital in a critical condition where he later died,” Makau said.

The 20-year-old was arrested and would appear on a charge of murder in the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
