Medeama Chief Denies Quits Reports

Medeama chief insists he’s still at post

Medeama Executive vice president Albert Commey has rubbished reports he’s quit his position following the side’s first defeat of the season.

Takoradi-based Good News FM claimed on Tuesday that the former long-standing Hearts Public Relations Officer had tendered in his resignation over allegations of bribery.

Medeama were beaten 1-0 at home by Kotoko last Sunday, breaching their unbeaten record in the country’s top flight league.

The defeat is reported to have angered some of their fans who have accused the top hierarchy of exchanging the three points for monetary considerations.

But the club’s chief has squashed the reports describing them as untrue.

“This is the first time I am hearing this and I’m even shocked to hear this,” Commey told medeamasc.com

“Why should I resign from Medeama and go where?

“As far as I’m concerned, I have a mission to accomplish at this great club. Therefore I have not resigned and will not resign.

“My focus is to help the team win the League and so I will not allow such distractions to become a standing block.”

Medeama will travel to Accra to face Liberty on Sunday.
