Bo Won’t Get a Playmate in the White House – For Now

Barack Obama promised that the best is yet to come – but sadly, that doesn’t mean a playmate for Bo Obama.

During his victory speech early Wednesday morning, the President said to First Daughters Sasha and Malia that there will be only one four-legged friend roaming the halls of the 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, for now.

“You’re growing up to be two strong, smart, beautiful young women, just like your Mom,” he said. “And I’m so proud of you guys. But I will say that for now: One dog’s probably enough.”

In his victory speech four years ago, Obama promised a canine would join them in the White House. In April of 2009, the 6-month-old Portuguese water dog arrived and he’s been a staple of the Presidency.

The First Dog celebrated his 4th birthday in October with considerably less streamers and cheers than there was this Election night. Five of Sasha and Malia’s dog-owning friends brought their pups to the White House on a no-school holiday for a doggy playdate, which included treats, toys, and lots of running on the South Lawn.
